Kensington heritage amendments C214 (interim) and C215
Why this matters:
These amendments will place a heritage overlay on many properties in the section of Kensington east of the Craigieburn Line, that used to be part of Moonee Valley.  We urged the Council to complete this heritage study.  Soon, we expect it will be exhibited, which will give you a chance to say what you think.   Go HERE for further info.

Open space levy C209
Why this matters:  Developers will now be required to pay a levy to the Council on each new apartment, and these funds will be used to purchase open space.  Hopefully this will ensure that the C190 area will get adequate open space.  Following a motion from Cr Leppert, the Councillors resolved to enter into negotiations with landholders in the C190 area immediately with the view to making the first purchase.  The intention is to show that Council is serious in providing open space.  Go HERE for details about C209.

Developer contribution levy C208
Why this matters:  Developers will now be required to pay a levy on each new apartment, and these funds will be used to improve Councill infrastructure in the area (new community centres, public realm improvements, drainage upgrades and other public infrastructure).  While we support the idea, we note that major infrastructure concerns re. C190 are about schools and public transport, which are not within the Council’s power.  Go HERE for further details
