Who We Are

The Kensington Association was established by a group of residents in 1997 and followed on the proud traditions of previous Kensington action groups such as the Flemington/Kensington Progress Association and the Kensington Social Action Group.

Our members are Kensington residents and business people who are committed to a bright future for our community. We are not-for-profit association, supported by member fees, donations and grants. The Association is managed entirely by volunteers, in particular by a Steering Committee elected each August at our Annual General Meeting.

Monitor

We monitor building developments and other proposals, and if they are deemed inappropriate, we assist in mobilising resources against them.

Protect

We seek to protect the amenity of Kensington through monitoring processes, preserving streetscapes and attempting to reduce the volume of traffic on our streets.

Enhance

We undertake community-building and environmental projects and work with councils to enhance the life of our community and suburb.

Our Why

Many residents wish to have the opportunity to exert influence over the evolution of their suburb. Kensington Association exists to provide this opportunity through the provision of knowledge, leadership and a supportive forum

Our Mission

To protect and enhance the existing amenity of Kensington as well as to monitor development proposals in our community

Our Vision

To provide an informed and flexible network of support so that all members of our community can feel empowered to influence change and development within our built and natural environment
