1.

Meeting Details

Acting Chair: Simon Harvey

Location: Kensington Town Hall – 7:30pm

House Keeping

Welcomed: Simon opened the meeting and paid his respects to the traditional owners of the land past, present and emerging.

·       Apologies: Moira, John, Tony C, Fran

·       October meeting minutes were tabled.

Therese and Kate endorsed the minutes as being a true reflection of what was discussed and were formally accepted.

Matters arising:

–       Kate and Simon met with Rebecca Thistleton from the Labor party (pre-meet the candidates)

–       Simon, Tony and Liz met with the Dan (CEO of Local) and Tim Bradbury (Developer).

Correspondence In:

–       Letter from Ian Young

–       Letter from Hugh and Ross (CoM traffic engineer) indicating they had received our submission and wanted to provide a response.

Correspondence Out:

–       Reply to Ian Young

–       Reply to Ross Goddard

–       Reply to Desley about Young Husband

Action: Committee reiterated their disappointment that materials promised to Residents following the community consultation on the Young & Husband development had not been provided to residents.

General Business & Reports

 Treasurer’s Report

·      No significant transactions (inflows or outflows) of note for month October.

Melbourne Metro Rail Project (“MMRP”) Report – Therese F

·      Work continues near Childers and Tennyson Street.

·      Path very narrow and in the wrong position. There is also grating that is un-safe. Set up is terrible.

·      Another site meeting to be scheduled with CoM later this this week.

·      Contractors have created a safety hazard – as the lighting in poor (where the walkway is) and they have taken more space than what they need.

PCCC – Therese

·      No meeting to report on

West Gate Tunnel Project

·     No meeting to report on

Moonee Ponds Creek (MPC) report (submitted by John)

·      John’s report to be held until next meeting.

Kensington Community Network – Simon H

·      There aren’t regular meetings and as such nothing to report.

Kensington Reconciliation Action Group (hosted by Neighbourhood house) – Kate

·      Update provided from CoM on how we engage with local Wurundjeri people in the area.

·      Policy was important, particularly around green/open space areas

Chairperson’s Report – Simon H

·      Met with Penny Addison (Flemington Association) at her request. Aim was to discuss common issues and challenges. One matter discussed was the issues with Racecourse Road bridge and number of truck crashing.

 ·      Meeting with Ross Goddard planned

Action: Simon to request that the respective councils facilitate a meeting with Vic Roads and Vic Track to discuss what can be done. Another option would be Yarra Trams or our local member.

 ·      Meet the candidate costs of $137 being shared with North/West Melbourne Association. Snacks contributed to approximately $90.

·      Maritza Araneda will take on the role as Treasurer for KA, with the position of Secretary to be held open. Simon will look after memberships and Kate will assist with the newsletter and facebook.

Other follow up matters

·      David requested a leave of absence from the Deputy role.

5.

Matters from the meeting floor

·      KA Christmas party – will be held on Monday December 12th at 6:30pm. It will be in the form of picnic at the Kensington Station park.
